IACL was born from a mere thought of providing an ecosystem that helps new artists navigate the art world better.We realized that it’s not talent that India is short on, but the ecosystem around it or a way forward. We are trying to bridge the gap between emerging talent and their access to collectors, patrons, institutions, and organisations.

All we strive to do is open the gates to the art world by supporting the talent we spot, working closely with them, and building connections with people and spaces within the art world.

This idea came to us when we started Si Bambai in 2017. It began as a platform for emerging performers in theatre and, over time, grew into a space where artists and audiences could come together to jam, network, exchange ideas, and create new work. That experience eventually led us to open doors to visual art as well.

Around the same time, we encountered a group of final-year students from the Sir J. J. School of Art. Their work was remarkable. What they lacked wasn’t talent or ambition. It was a pathway forward.

IACL strives to continue the legacy of India’s early modern art pioneers, like Bombay’s 1947 Progressive Artists’ Group, who tranformed Indian Art history through experimentation and collaboration. IACL draws inspiration from this legacy while responding to the realities of today’s art ecosystem.

We also wanted to make the world of collecting feel a little less intimidating.

You don’t need to begin with expertise. You can begin with curiosity. With a work that stayed with you. Or simply with the desire to support an artist whose journey is just beginning.

Every artist has a story and we're just making room for you in it. IACL wants to bring collectors and patrons to the art's making, so owning a piece means being a part of it's journey.
